Jim began his civil litigation practice in 1979 with the Gainesville law firm Whelchel, Dunlap & Gignilliat. In 1988, he and Weymon Forrester founded the firm Forrester & Brim, and for the next 29 years, specialized in the defense of a wide variety of civil lawsuits, including malpractice claims against physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Although Jim’s practice has concentrated mainly on the defense of medical malpractice and other personal injury claims, his clients also have included corporate entities in business disputes, private schools, lawyers in legal malpractice matters, and physicians in proceedings before the Composite Board of Medical Examiners.

Jim is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and is a past President of the Gainesville-Northeastern Bar Association.
