M. Scott Bailey

M. Scott Bailey is a founding partner of Huff, Powell and Bailey, and has a dynamic litigation practice focusing on the defense of healthcare providers and institutions as well as product and device manufacturers. Mr. Bailey was formerly with Alston & Bird in Atlanta where he was a member of several national litigation teams defending clients in mass tort, multidistrict and class action litigation. Mr. Bailey has tried over 30 cases as lead counsel, all to defense verdicts. In 2009 and 2010, he obtained defense verdicts after a three week medical malpractice trial for the largest orthopaedic surgery group in Georgia; a two week wrongful death case against the premier colorectal surgery practice in Atlanta; and a wrongful death case against the largest gastroenterology group in the Southeast. He tried four cases to verdict in the first quarter of 2010 alone. Mr. Bailey has been featured as an Atlanta Magazine Superlawyers Rising Star for 2005-2006 and has been a Georgia Superlawyer for the last three years. He is also a charter fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society. He was recognized in 2009 as a member of the Lexis-Nexis Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers and is a recent invited member of the Professional Liability Defense Foundation. In addition to his active litigation practice, Mr. Bailey currently serves as the firm’s managing partner.
