Julye has been defending professional liability lawsuits involving hospitals, physicians, physician extenders, and nurses since 1999. Since joining Huff, Powell & Bailey in 2004, she successfully has tried numerous cases involving death and catastrophic injury. She has defended allegations of medical negligence, ordinary negligence, assault and battery, fraud, and premises liability, in federal and state courts, at trial and on appeal. She has represented primary care providers for both pediatric and adult patients, and specialists in fields including cardiology, emergency medicine, gastroenterology, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, pulmonology/critical care, radiology, surgery, and urology. In addition to representing clients in civil litigation, Julye represents physicians in hearings before the Georgia Composite Medical Board, hospital credentialing committees, and insurance companies. Julye has given lectures regarding risk management topics to physician, physician assistant, and nursing organizations.

  • Defense of pediatric hospitals and pediatric urgent care centers in lawsuits involving conditions including genetic anomalies, meningitis and other infections, neurosurgical complications, and sudden cardiac death
  • Defense of hospitals, surgical centers, urgent care centers, and emergency medical service providers in lawsuits involving misdiagnoses, failures to diagnose, medication errors, surgical errors, and decubitus ulcers
  • Defense of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists in lawsuits involving conditions including adverse medication reactions, genetic and metabolic diseases, and surgical procedures
  • Defense of obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, and nurses in lawsuits involving maternal and fetal death and injuries
  • Defense of plastic surgeons, dermatologists, physician extenders, and aestheticians in lawsuits involving cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and clinical medical aesthetic procedures
  • Representation of physicians in investigations conducted by the Georgia Composite Medical Board
  • Representation of physicians and other healthcare providers in hospital investigations and actions to limit or terminate credentials and privileges
  • Representation of physicians in investigations and audits conducted by federal and state agencies and county health departments
  • Representation of physicians in disputes with insurance companies, such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield
  • Defense of corporations in cases involving death and catastrophic injuries resulting from motor vehicle, trucking, and workplace accidents
  • General risk management and advice for the development of hospital and physician practice policies and procedures
