Michael is a partner in Huff Powell Bailey's Atlanta, Georgia office. He defends complex cases with high damages exposure in multiple arenas, including healthcare, government liability, correctional care, and premises and general liability. Michael is trial tested, in the courtroom often, trying between 4 to 6 multi-week complex cases per year, in some of the worst venues for the defense in the country.

Michael spends a significant portion of his time defending healthcare providers, physicians, nurses, mid-levels, therapists, mental health providers, as well as healthcare facilities and healthcare systems. He has represented physicians in every medical specialty, including radiology, surgery and anesthesiology. Michael also has successfully tried cases for dentists and oral surgeons.

Because of his success in the courtroom for healthcare providers, general and premises liability carriers frequently seek Michael out to handle premises liability cases involving wrongful death and/or catastrophic injuries, neurological injuries, amputations and brain damages cases.

Michael is a proven winner in the courtroom. He connects well with juries and is quite good at explaining very complicated medical issues to laypeople. He is also adept at cross-examining highly credentialed expert witnesses on very intricate scientific and medical principles. Michael is well respected by the plaintiffs' bar and his reputation for trying difficult cases leads to the best possible outcomes for his clients in and out of the courtroom.

Michael is also well respected by the judiciary. Prior to joining the firm, he served as an intern for the Honorable Charles B. Mikell, Judge of the Court of Appeals of Georgia and over two years as Staff Attorney to the Honorable Ben W. Studdard, III, former Chief Judge of the State Court of Henry County.

When he is not in the courtroom, Michael is frequently giving talks and presentations to medical providers and insurance companies on a variety of medical, insurance, risk management and other legal topics. He has recently presented to the Georgia Society of Healthcare Risk Managers and the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Michael is routinely recognized by his peers as a Georgia Super Lawyer and a Best Lawyer. Courtroom Video Network also has selected Michael's trials for some of its Top Ten Defense Verdicts of the Year.
