Julye Johns and Anna Fretwell Present on HIPPA

Partner Julye Johns provided a presentation authored by Partner Anna Fretwell regarding the HIPAA Omnibus Rule, which became effective last year and extends liability for violations of HIPAA and protected health information (PHI) disclosures to business associates, in addition to covered entities. For the first time, business associates, such as law firms, can be held liable for disclosures of PHI. The presentation focused on the development of business associate agreements and the protection of electronic PHI used by business associates. You can contact Julye at jjohns@huffpowellbailey.com.
