Our colleague, friend and mentor, Weymon Forrester, passed away on January 14, 2026, after a long and celebrated career as one of the finest trial attorneys in the State of Georgia.
Weymon started his career with the firm of Whelchel, Dunlap & Gignilliat in Gainesville. After practicing there for 22 years, he, along with Jim Brim, formed the Gainesville firm of Forrester & Brim, LLP in 1988, which merged with Huff, Powell & Bailey, LLC in 2018.
Throughout his practice in Gainesville for over 50 years, Weymon represented clients in a wide variety of civil cases and has tried countless of these cases in many jurisdictions in Georgia, state and federal. For more than 35 years, he specialized in the defense of medical malpractice cases.
He served as President of the Gainesville-Northeastern Bar Association and Vice President of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association. Since 1984, he was a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Before beginning his private practice in Gainesville, Weymon was a law clerk for Judge Griffin Bell who was at that time a Circuit Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
